Palmetto police are seeking an Alabama man in connection with a New Year’s Day kidnapping of a woman from her residence on Anna Avenue. The woman was released unharmed after being held at gunpoint for several hours on a journey that went from Palmetto to Alabama and to Atlanta.

Palmetto Detective John Cooper said Terry Wayne Williams, of Montgomery, Alabama, is being sought for kidnapping, burglary and two counts of aggravated assault. Williams is described as a 47 year-old black male 5’9” tall and weighing 155 pounds. He was last seen driving a blue Dodge Stealth, Cooper said.

Cooper said Doeirea Hill and Marvin Polk had arrived at the Anna Avenue residence at approximately 3 a.m. The two had been asleep for a short time and were awakened when the bedroom light came on, Cooper said. Williams was in the room, holding a gray revolver on them, possibly a .357 magnum, Cooper said. Prior to releasing Polk and abducting Hill, Williams threatened to kill the couple, said Cooper.

Williams held Hill at gunpoint, threatening her life, as he drove into Alabama, Cooper said. Williams and Hill returned to Georgia where he released her at her mother’s home in Atlanta at approximately 8 a.m., Cooper added.

Interviewed after the incident, Hill said Williams had threatened her life several times during the five hour ordeal, Cooper said. Hill told investigators Williams was the biological father of her 10 year-old daughter. Cooper said investigators were not aware of a specific motive for Williams’ actions.

Officer Ray Preston responded to a call from Williams, arriving at the house at approximately 3:45 a.m. At the scene, Preston found track marks in the year, indicating that Williams had pulled his vehicle into the back yard of the residence, said Cooper. Williams gained entry to the residence by prying open a basement window, he said.

Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact Det. John Cooper at (770) 463-9068.
