Region games kick off 2007 half of high school basketball season

The high school basketball season gets back underway tonight and many local teams have some significant region games in their future.

In 4-AAAAA, East Coweta’s boys (6-5, 1-3 region) will host Mundy’s Mill (5-3, 2-1 region) at 8:30 p.m. The girls (5-9, 2-2 region) will play the Lady Tigers (7-5, 3-0) first. Next Friday, East Coweta will take on Paulding County on the road. The Paulding County girls have a record of 1-8, 0-3 region, while the boys are 2-7, 0-3.

In region 2-AAAA, McIntosh’s boys (5-7, 2-4 region) and girls (9-3, 4-2 region) will play at Woodward Academy tonight with games starting at 7 p.m.

They will host Westlake on Tuesday with game starting at 6 p.m.

Woodward’s boys and girls have records of 5-8, 3-3 region and 7-4, 4-2 region respectively, while Westlake’s boys and girls are 10-4, 5-1 region and 9-1, 6-0 region respectively.
Northgate’s boys (3-9, 0-5) and girls (3-6, 1-4 region) have a busy few days ahead of them. They will play at Whitewater tonight, at Fayette County tomorrow and Starr’s Mill on Saturday. Whitewater’s boys are 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the region, while the girls are 2-11 and 0-5.

The Fayette County boys are 8-4 and 3-1 in the region and the Lady Tigers are 4-4 and 3-1 in the region. Starr’s Mill’s boys are 1-13 and 0-5 in the region and the girls are 6-8 and 2-3.
Fayette County will take on Banneker tonight with games starting at 7 p.m. and Starr’s Mill will meet Whitewater on Saturday with game starting at 6 p.m.

In region 5-A, Landmark Christian’s boys (1-10, 0-1) and girls (12-2, 1-1) will host Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy with games starting at 6 p.m. The Lady Chargers are 3-9 and 2-2 in the region, while the boys are 7-5, 1-2.

Landmark will play at Our Lady of Mercy on Tuesday with games starting at 6 p.m. Our Lady of Mercy’s boys (8-3, 0-2 region) and girls (6-5, 0-2 region) will host Pike County for Class AA on Friday and Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy on Saturday.

Pike County’s boys have an overall record of 1-8 and a region record of 0-1, while the girls are 3-6 and 0-1.
