Colonial Dames

Members of the Thomas Wingfield Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century received a lesson in creating a personal coat of arms at their November meeting.

Rachel Colbert, chapter chairman for Heraldry and Coats of Arms explained the significance of the four fields found on a coat of arms: crest, color, motto and symbols.

Following the lesson each member in attendance created her own Coat of Arms.

The Thomas Wingfield Chapter serves Fayette, Clayton and Henry counties and is involved in a number of activities including college scholarships and the marking of historic buildings in the tri-county area. The chapter was chartered in 2005 and currently boasts 57 members.
