Two men accused of killing a north Fayette man in College Park will make their first court appearance Thursday morning, officials confirmed.

Ronregus Martez Watts, 19, and Jarmavis Travell Dixon, 23, are accused of shooting to death Thomas “Tommy” Vinson Dec. 22 while Vinson was renovating a home there on Hardin Avenue.

College Park police told Vinson’s family that the suspects wanted to rob him to get money to post bond for one of their girlfriends. They got away with his wallet and truck but both were caught after they attempted to use one of the credit cards at an area grocery store, said Vinson’s daughter, Jennifer Hand.

Watts and Dixon also used a copy of Vinson’s obituary to brag to their friends about the killing, confirmed Det. A. Redding of the College Park Police Department.

Vinson was retired from Delta and had been renovating the home for a “crash pad” to lease to transient Delta personnel, Hand said. Vinson also restored old Chevy cars from the mid-50s era and even old gasoline pumps, she added.

Vinson was a grandfather of two and he also leaves behind his wife, Shirley and two children. The family has been overwhelmed with the number of people who expressed their sympathy, Hand said.

Instead of creating a memorial fund, the family has asked friends to donate to the humane society.
