It is the beginning of an era . The Dec. 16 occasion was the re-naming of “Lightnin” Park and the dedication of the new Cora M. Robinson Park. Laid to rest on Dec. 20, 2000, Ms. Robinson was a long-time Fairburn resident and community activist, also known as the “Mayor of Lightnin.” “She brightened and influenced the lives of many people in her lifetime and she was a valued member of the community,” said Mayor Betty Hannah. On hand with Hannah for the dedication are nearly three dozen of Ms. Robinson’s family along with members of the city council, City Administrator Jim Williams, city hall staff and members of Fairburn Fire, Police and Steets departments.
