Join the tradition and give a gift to nature this holiday season! Keep Georgia Beautiful and Coweta County invite you to celebrate the 17th annual “Bring One for the Chipper” and recycle your Christmas tree after the holidays.
Coweta County residents are invited to bring trees to any of the 11 full access compactor sites through January 6, 2007. The 11 full access compactor sites are at Selt Road, Andrew Bailey Road, Hood Road, Lora Smith Road, Herring Road, Cecil Hunter Road, Corinth Road, Old Carrollton Road, Welcome Road, Rising Star Road and in Raymond. In addition, trees will be accepted at the Temple Avenue Recreation complex on January 6, 2007 only, from 9 am – 4 pm. Trees will be chipped into mulch or used as wildlife habitat.
In appreciation of their recycling efforts, a free dogwood seedling will be given to those who bring their trees on January 6 to the Temple Avenue location, while supplies last.
Further drop-off information is available on the “Bring One for the Chipper” website at www.KeepGeorgiaBeautiful.org, at www.coweta.ga.us or by calling 1-800-CLEANUP.
Last year 425 trees were collected in Coweta County, with 345 chipped into mulch and 80 put into lakes as fish habitat. Georgia Power Company provides the chipping as a community service and 4-H members and county workers help run the program.
Since 1991, “Bring One for the Chipper” has collected more than 4.5 million trees and provided more than one million tree seedlings. Last year, more than 225,000 trees were recycled in Georgia.
