Booth team hands losses to local rivals, takes third in duals meet

The Booth wrestling team traveled to Fayetteville last Friday and convincingly swept a duals meet against Flat Rock 63 – 36 and Fayette Middle School 60 – 32. The Warriors win against Flat Rock avenged and early season loss to the Eagles.

After the match Coach Mark Ruck said “I was real happy with our effort tonight. We are making progress in both our skills as well as our competitive focus. The Squad is beginning to come together and the outcome tonight is the result of the hard work we have been putting in.”

Seven Booth wrestlers finished the night with 2 wins; Jackson McFarland at 90 lbs, Scott Alles, 95 lbs both by pin, Garrison Dean 110, Alex Scheumann, 137 both by pin, Clayton Stille 157 lbs both by pin, Easton Stronach 187 both by pin and Patrick Brown Hvywght both by pin.

Wrestlers finishing with 1 victory and 1 loss were Jack Harrison 75 lbs, Joey Zimmerman 80, Matt Natasi 100, Harrison Brooks 105, Clayton Prudeaux 115, Nathan Reeves 127 and Will Charr 137.

Also competing for the Warriors were David Ian James at 120 lbs, and Seth Sitzman at 167 lbs.
Alex Scheumann recorded the quickest pin against his Fayette opponent at 20 seconds in the first period. Garrison Dean wrestled in the most exciting match of the night against Fayette Middle School. The match went back and forth the entire bout ending in a 6-6 tie at the end of regulation. At the outset of the overtime period Dean score the winning points of the match with a double-leg takedown winning 8-6.

Booth Middle School hosted the annual Booth Duals Wrestling Tournament last weekend and took home a third place trophy. The Warriors were in the hunt for the Tournament Championship until the very end before dropping what turned out to be the Championship contest to Cass Middle School 43-44. Booth beat Eagles Landing 77-24, North Hall 56-39 and Henry County 50-44 while dropping a match to Union Grove 36-65.
Two Booth wrestlers finished the day with perfect 5-0 records. Joey Zimmerman at 80 lbs and Clayton Stille 157 had strong days with 5 wins and 3 pins each

Four wrestlers ended the day with 4 wins and 1 loss. They were Jack Harrison 75 lbs, including 2 pins, Scott Allen 95 lbs, Matt Natasi 100 all 4 by pin and Easton Stronach 185, with 3 pins.
The Warriors wrestling team will be back in action on January 5 Friday at Henry County competing against Woodward and Henry County.
