Nominations being accepted for 16th annual Citizen of the Year award

The Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nominations through January 5, 2007 for the annual Citizen of the Year Award. Applications can be picked up at the Chamber Office, 23 Bullsboro Drive in Newnan, or by calling 770-253-2270, or emailing info@newnancowetachamber.org.

This year will mark the 16th consecutive year the Chamber will select a Citizen of the Year. The award recognizes an individual with outstanding leadership and citizenship within our community, who has demonstrated exemplary vision, civic pride, and a strong commitment to a better Coweta. The Citizen of the Year will be named at the Chamber’s Stakeholder Breakfast and celebration on Tuesday, January 23, 2007.

For 2006, Willie Boyd received this award. Boyd, retired from the military, is an active community volunteer who recently served as the president of the Newnan Kiwanis Club.

The nominee should live in Coweta County and his/her activities should be centered in Coweta County and the surrounding area. Recognition will be given for leadership and performance in multiple areas of community service over a period of years. The individual recognized does not have to be member of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce or the business community. It may be an individual from any walk of life, and there are no requirements or restrictions relating to gender, age, race, religion, or ethnic background.
