World Airways, headquartered in Peachtree City, is gathering artwork from school children this month to display onboard its wide-body aircraft carrying U.S. military personnel returning from the Middle East for two-week rest and relaxation visits.

Students have created 8 1/2-by 11-inch pictures illustrating the general theme, "Art from the Heart," or "Words of Thanks" -- including strength, pride, courage and protection. World Airways, the largest carrier of U.S. military personnel, will transport thousands of military troops during the holiday period.

”This is our fourth year for the art program, which has been extremely popular with U.S. military personnel," said Charlie McDonald, World's chief operating officer. "The pictures created by the children are put on display throughout our aircraft, and many soldiers ask to keep the colorful artwork."

World Airways, a wholly owned subsidiary of World Air Holdings, Inc., provides custom transportation services for major international passenger and cargo carriers, the United States military, major freight forwarders and international leisure tour operators. Founded in 1948, World operates a fleet of 17 wide-body aircraft to meet the specialized needs of its customers. For information, visit www.worldairways.com.
