GS troop 619 helps rivers alive

Recently the Girl Scouts of Pine Valley Council, Service Unit 619 of Fayetteville, joined with Rivers Alive to provide a clean up of Lake Horton, located in Fayette County, on the Flint River Waterway and the Flint Watershed.

The Girl Scouts (and some Boy Scouts) from ages 5 to 16 picked up trash around this lake area. The Scouts enjoyed the day outdoors, while providing a service to their community and helping to improve the environment. Anita Godbee and Tony Parrott assisted the troops with the clean up this area. The Scouts have been participating in this project for several years.

Rivers Alive is Georgia’s annual volunteer waterway cleanup event that targets all the waterways in the state including streams, rives, lakes, beaches and wetlands. The mission of Rivers Alive is to create awareness of and involvement in the preservation of Georgia’s water resources.
