Art students at Flat Rock Middle School received an unprecedented number of awards at the Georgia National Fair Youth Art Competition and Exhibition in Perry, Ga. recently. From 50 entries, students earned 49 place awards, as well as two “Best-In-Category” in the Middle School Division. Students also pocketed nearly $850 in monetary awards. Thirty middle schools across the state entered the event.
This marks the second year in a row that Flat Rock has placed first in Georgia for the middle school division. Last year, students won 38 place awards and one “Best-In-Category.”
The Georgia National Fair Youth Art Competition is the most competitive art fair in this part of Georgia. To win 51 awards and place at the top of the middle school category for the second year in a row speaks volumes about Flat Rock Middle School students, and what they are capable of doing, said Jocelyn Rivard, Flat Rock Middle School art teacher. ”I couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments.” For more on Flat Rock Middle School art, please visit their Web site at http://www.flatrockms.org/art.
