A lot of people will make New Year’s resolutions to get fit in 2007, but how many will follow through?

Carla Allen, owner of Fit 4 A New Life Fitness, is hoping a lot of women in Fayette County will follow through and she is planning on helping them with a Weight Loss Challenge.

The challenge, which will run from Jan. 1-Apr. 1, is open to all women in Fayette County ages 16 and up. The fee is $20 with $1 going to the Fayette County school of their choice. There will be a registration and weekly weigh-ins and nutrition classes. People do not have to join the gym to participate in the challenge.

“We’re really hoping to get women aware of health and wellness,” said Allen. “Everybody vows to get fit in January, but we want to help them change their lifestyle.”
There will be a walk away the pounds club available for particpants to join and the nutrition classes will focus on portion size, reading labels, nutritious ways to eat, keeping a food and exercise journal and more. If interested, a work out plan for a gym or home can be structured. Once a participant is registered they can do their weekly weigh-in at any time during operating hours of the gym, which are 5:30 a.m.-9 p.m.

“At the end of the challenge we are going to calculate all the weight loss from our participants in Fayette County,” said Allen. “Prizes will be available for the persons who lost the most weight. We are going to break it down in individuals, groups, churches, Fire Department, Police Department and Young Teens. I believe that we could bring about such an awareness for healthy living this year.”
