PTC hockey teams take home tournament titles

The championship 18U game was decided by a difference of only one goal. The Highlanders won 2-1 over the Blue Aztec Mountain Gods. Ty Taylor scored a goal and had an assist and Steven Beardsell scored one goal. Austin Bingham also scored one goal and Zack Ward had one assist. Taylor also scored the winning goal the day before in the semi-final game during a shoot-out. The Highlanders took 16 shots on Doke Massa and the Blue Aztec Mountain Gods took 13 shots on Alex Gordon. Congratulations to Alex Brilliant for winning the President’s Cup Award and Ryan Routh for winning the Gretzky Award (most assists - 11). Alex Gordon took home the Williams Body Works Goalie Award with a save percentage of 88.61%. Regular season standings: 1st – Blue Aztec Mountain Gods, 2nd - Highlanders; point leaders - Beardsell, Routh and Cody Hammock.

The 10u final was won by the Fighting Turtles 4-1 over the Knights. Brandon Langholz had two goals and an assist, Gus McMillan had a goal and an assist and Brendan McMillan and Taylor Iniguez each had a goal. The Knights took 11 shots on David Spinney and the Fighting Turtles took 17 shots on Tobie Otte. Bryce Lanktree won the President’s Cup Award and Kerrigan Arnold won the Gretzky Award for most assists with 21. The Fighting Turtles were first in the regular season followed by the Black Knights. Point leaders were Kerrigan Arnold, Gus McMillan and Brendan McMillan.

The 12U championship was an exciting game with the winning goal scored by Yates Karneboge with 2:05 left in overtime play giving the Sasquatches a 5-4 win over the Black Magic. Point leaders were Connor Nash with three goals and an assist, Yates Karneboge with three goals, Chris Beardsell with one goal and two assists and Bryson Terry with two assists. The Sasquatches took 20 shots on DJ Thompson and the Black Magic took 17 shots on Greg Roberts. Jacob Weiers won the President’s Cup Award and Austin Baldwin won the Gretzky Award for the most assists (16). Hats off to DJ Thompson for winning the William Body Works Goalie Award with an 80.37 save percentage. That is quite an accomplishment for a player who only took up the sport of inline hockey this season. The Silver Bullets were first in the regular season and Black Magic placed second. Regular season point leaders were Ben Lisicia, Mitchell Myers and Austin Baldwin.
