Local swim club swims fastest relay in Georgia history

Chelsea Stephens, Lauren Cartwright, Nicole Roddenbery, and Lauren Scott of Peachtree City’s Southern Crescent Aquatic Team became the fastest 200 Medley Relay in Georgia history on Dec. 8 at the Georgia State Senior Championships held at the Georgia Tech Olympic Pool.
The record was previously held by Swim Atlanta from 2002.

Along with becoming Georgia Senior State Champions the quartet also qualified for Senior National Championships for both spring and summer while placing second in the 400 Individual Medley.

This is the first Georgia Senior State Record for the Southern Crescent Aquatic Team.

Other impressive relay performances were turned in by Keaton Hannon, Roddenbery, Scott, and Cartwright placing fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay; Roddenbery, Katie Haycraft, Scott, and Cartwright placing fifth in the 800 Freestyle Relay; Kristen Bates, Scott, Roddenbery, and Cartwright placing fifth in the 400 Freestyle Relay, Haycraft, Sarah Larson, Stephens, and Hannon placing eighth in the 400 Freestyle Relay, and Zach Payne, Alex Harmon, Alex Menke, and David Menchinger placing 5th in the 800 Freestyle Relay.

Outstanding individual performances were from: Lauren Cartwright placing second in the 200 Butterfly, 200 Individual Medley, and 400 Individual Medley, third in the 100 Breaststroke, fouth in the 200 Breaststroke, ninth in the 200 Freestyle, and 10th in the 200 Freestyle, Nicole Roddenbery placing third in the 100 Butterfly, 12th in the 100 Breaststroke, 13th in the 200 Breaststroke, and 17th in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Individual Medley, Kristen Bates placing 16th in the 100 Breaststroke, and 18th in the 50 Freestyle, Chelsea Stephens placing fifth in the 100 Butterfly, and ninth in the 100 Breaststroke, David Menchinger placing sixth in the 100 Backstroke and 400 Individual Medley, eighth in the 200 Backstroke, 13th in the 200 Freestyle, and 19th in the 100 Freestyle, Zach Payne placing sixth in the 100 and 200 Butterfly, and Alex Harmon placing 8th in the 400 Individual Medley, and 13th in the 1650 Freestyle.
