Christian City kicked-off their cell phone collection drive recently with the support of the South Fulton Chamber of Commerce.

The drive kick-off was initiated at the Chamber's quarterly New Member Orientation meeting held at the Welcome Center at Christian City.

Cell phone collection boxes are being distributed throughout the community to local businesses, churches, schools, health clubs, fire and police departments, and the South Fulton Chamber office along with other community service offices.

Collected phones are converted into cash donations for Christian City by the Shelter Alliance, a recycle center specializing in recycling cell phones. Each donated cell phone translates to between $3-30 for Christian City’s programs serving abandoned and neglected children, as well as services for seniors, Alzheimer's patients, the elderly and the infirm.

Located in Union City, Christian City has been serving the community since 1965 when the first cottage was opened to serve eight boys. Now, over 40 years later, this non-profit, non-denominational organization is home to over 1,100 residents.

Community support is always needed, and the cell phone drive is an easy way to get involved and meet the needs of both children and adults. If you would like to participate in the cell phone drive to help raise money for Christian City kids and seniors please contact Greg Brett at 770-703-2631.
