Lighthouse UMC’s AOK touches special family in Lake CityTue, 12/12/2006 - 4:06pm
By: The Citizen
Members of Lighthouse United Methodist Church recently hosted one of their frequent A.O.K. (Acts of Kindness) service projects involving the Murphy family of Lake City. On Dec. 3, more than 40 members from Lighthouse traveled to the Murphy family home in Lake City to help their children decorate cookies and have fun. They also decorated the Murphy’s house for the Christmas season and did some home repair projects. What is unusual about the Murphy family is that not only do they have 19 children living with them but the majority of the children have been adopted and were born with Downs Syndrome and/or severe medical problems. The Murphy family will be featured in a documentary on the Discovery Health Channel this month. Lighthouse members hope to continue visiting the Murphy home for future A.O.K. projects. login to post comments |
