Captain Lawson F. Bell, a 1993 graduate of McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, returned to Fort Wainwright, Alaska from Iraq on Nov. 30. Bell serves with the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team and spent 12 months in Mosul and four months in Baghdad. This has been the longest major unit deployment of the war. He is married to Jessica Ann (Thompson) Bell of Tyrone, a 1996 graduate of Sandy Creek High School and has a two year old son, James. His next assignment will be at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
