The future of South Fulton Town Hall MeetingMon, 11/21/2005 - 1:08pm
By: The Citizen
You have heard me use the term on a number of occasions “One South Fulton”. This is never more important to us than it is now as we defend our homes and neighborhoods from those who seek to destroy us. However, let me make one thing perfectly clear, “One South Fulton” needs everybody, male and female, old and young, black and white, Asian, Latino and even Republican and Democrat. In a recent meeting, I was informed by a white resident that they did not feel welcome. Hearing this, you have no idea how I felt. I know the media and certain public officials like to paint our community with a one-color paintbrush. However, those of us who live here know better. We are proud of the diversity reflected here in South Fulton. I hope everyone understands that I feel blessed and proud to represent all of our citizens, who are of every color, race and creed. We the citizens of South Fulton County hold many things in common, including the love of our beautiful community that is filled with an abundance of lakes, trees, waterfalls, rolling hills, valleys and streams. These are the things we are fighting for today. I need each of you to join me in focusing on our real problems and even when this fight is over we must still stand together as “One South Fulton”. We can ill afford people trying to separate this County and we will not tolerate efforts to dampen the spirit of our people. On December 1, 2005, I am hosting a townhall meeting on the “Future of South Fulton” at 7:00p.m. @ The GA. International Convention Center in College Park. You will receive facts not fiction and the options that we as citizens must consider for the salvation of our community. If we work together, fight together and pray together, we will prevail through the madness. South Fulton County shall continue to rise and not just through you and me, but through God’s will and the determination of citizens like each of you who love to call South Fulton home. We will rise, William “Bill” Edwards |
