It definitely pays to hold you tongue and your temper. Two Fairburn residents learned that lesson the hard way after being arrested in separate domestic incidents.

Margenia Rose Tutu, 47, was charged with battery and third-degree cruelty to children after a Nov. 16 domestic incident at her home, according to police reports.

Charged Nov. 15 with third-degree cruelty to children, disorderly conduct and obstruction of an officer was 21 year-old Roy Lee Ball.

The incident involving Tutu occurred Nov. 16 when Officer Angela Hatchett responded to a Clay Street residence on a physical altercation call. Tutu and her adult son told the officer that Tutu had struck her son in the face during an argument over his moving out of the house, reports said. After striking her son, Tutu began cursing and grabbed her nine year-old granddaughter, using her as a human shield, according to Tutu’s daughter-in-law who was quoted in reports. Determined to be the primary aggressor, Tutu was arrested and charged with battery and third-degree cruelty to children, the incident report said.

The incident involving Ball occurred Nov. 15 when Officers Hatchett and Mike Boutte responded to a verbal dispute on West Campbellton Road residence, according to police reports. Officers were told Ball had been in an argument with his 17 year-old brother over a television show. During the argument Ball threatened his brother and punched a hole in a piece of sheetrock laying against a the wall, a witness at the residence told officers. Reports said Ball was using loud and abusive language toward his brother during the argument. The witness told officers her three year-old child was present during the argument.

Officers arrested Ball after he began acting in a confrontational manner, reports said. He was charged with third-degree cruelty to children due to the child’s presence in the residence, reports said. Ball was also charged with obstruction of an officer and disorderly conduct, officers said.
