To celebrate the feast of Thanksgiving, St.Matthew Catholic Church in Tyrone will hold its annual Bread Exchange and Blessing during a special Thanksgiving Eve Mass, at 7 p.m. November 23. Visitors and persons traveling through the area are invited to come and share this wonderful liturgy with this warm and inviting community.

Parish families and visitors are invited to bring in a loaf of their favorite home made or store bought bread to be placed in front of the altar before Mass. During the Mass, Father Victor Galier, Pastor, will say a special blessing over the bread. Families who brought in loaves are then asked to take home a loaf other than the one they brought to be a part of their Thanksgiving Day meal. Parishioners are encouraged to not only enjoy the treat, but to pray for the family who made the bread they choose.

The annual tradition is designed to foster a community of sharing and has become a favorite tradition among parish families, who bring in many different kinds of bread each year, from their favorite store bought rolls to home baked banana bread to share with another parish family as a part of their Thanksgiving meal. Bread will be wrapped for travel and should be tagged from the originating family. The children of the parish are always excited as they enter the sanctuary to pick out the bread of their choice.

St. Matthew Catholic Church is located at 215 Kirkley Road, in Tyrone, Georgia. For more information call 770-964-5804.
