By: The Citizen
Candles will glow, polished wood will gleam, and you will step back in time to the sights and sounds of Christmas a hundred years ago. Catch a glimpse of an old-fashioned holiday celebration during the Senoia Candlelight Tour of Homes this Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Five historic houses and a beautiful Victorian church will open their doors to enchant you with the charm of Christmas past. Three of the houses have just been renovated by their new owners and have never been on tour before. The Smoak house, a former 1890s Presbyterian church on Pylant Street, has been beautifully reinvented as a warm family home. The 1906 Travis-Price house on Seavy Street has been carefully restored with original fireplaces, heart pine floors, and extensive millwork. The recently refurbished Cook-Graham home on Morgan Street, an example of Neo-Classical Revival style, was built circa 1861. The tour is rounded out by the elegant Culpepper House Bed and Breakfast on Broad Street, circa 1871, and Rosewood Cottage on Pylant Street, circa 1890s, which includes a working art studio where light refreshments will be served. Carolers will sing from a horse-drawn carriage and the town will be decorated in its holiday best. Tickets are $12 in advance, available at the Senoia Coffee Company, Gail's Antiques, or The Culpepper house. On the day of the tour, which begins at Senoia United Methodist Church on Seavy Street, tickets will be available for $15. The Candlelight Tour is sponsored by the city of Senoia Downtown Development Authority.
