Two cell phone stores were burglarized this week in Peachtree City, with a large quantity of cell phones and accessories taken, police said. The Wireless Toyz store on Ga. Highway 54 West was hit in the early morning hours Sunday, followed by a second burglary Wednesday evening at the Cingular Wireless shop in The Promenade shopping center on Hwy. 54 East, police said. The latter heist occurred while a nearby restaurant was still open, police said. Most of the stolen phones were the type which are untraceable, said Police Chief James Murray. Police had previously spoken with officials at each cell phone store in town, warning them of similar heists that have occurred throughout the south metro area, Murray said. Citizens are urged to report anyone attempting to sell new cell phones or anyone spotted with a large quantity of cell phones. Such reports should be called in to the department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 770-487-6010. login to post comments |
