The final accounting numbers are in and the committee members of the 2006 Southern Crescent Alzheimer's Memory Walk are ecstatic. The walk was held in Peachtree City on Oct. 7 with participants from Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Fulton, Henry and Spalding counties. Total cash raised was $180,618. In-kind donations (goods and services provided by companies and organizations) totaled $19,547. That's a grand total of $200,165, the largest sum raised in the seven year history of the walk. Accepting a check from Iola Snow and Fred Brown, co-chairs of the event, is Jan Bequeath (center), president and CEO of the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. At a recent celebration dinner, awards were presented to the event gold and silver sponsors, top male and female runners, and top five teams and three individuals who solicited the record donations. In seven years the Southern Crescent group has raised $951,081 for the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. When combined with the $85,000 donated as in-kind donations, total funds raised for the seven-year period exceed one million dollars. login to post comments |
