Spring Hill honors veterans

On Friday, Nov. 15, over 30 veterans walked the halls of Spring Hill Elementary School in an emotional parade flanked with students, teachers, and parents waving flags and showering them with applause.

When veterans arrived, they observed scores of American flags decorating the walkway into Spring Hill. As the veterans walked to the library, they enjoyed seeing hundreds of colorful stars decorating the walls. Each star listed information about family members of Spring Hill students who have served our country. The veterans were then greeted in the library with refreshments and opportunities to talk with each other and share memories. After the parade, students escorted their visiting veteran back to their own class and spent quality time answering questions and comments from students.

Mr. Hudson, principal of Spring Hill added, “It was a wonderful event. We had veterans ranging in age from 83 years old to an Army Private who has been in service for six months. The students and staff got an opportunity to show their appreciation for the veterans and also to learn something about what it is like to serve in the Armed Forces. We are already planning for next Veteran’s Day.”
