Fayetteville City Council Dec. 7 will hold public hearings on alcohol violations at Kiku Restaurant, La Parilla and Marathon Food Mart.

Employees at the two restaurants and one convenience store were cited for serving alcohol to persons under age 21. All were found guilty in city court, Police Chief Steve Heaton said. Heaton recommended that the council impose a $500 fine and a warning letter regarding license suspension or revocation for further violations.

Abdul Majeed of Marathon will be heard in an appeal of the citation.

Kiku is at 190 Pavilion Parkway, La Parilla at 94 Pavilion Parkway, and Marathon at 535 North Glynn St.

The council will hear the first reading of a proposed amendment to the Animals and Fowls Ordinance. Triggered by complaint calls over the number of animals kept in a household, a review of the ordinance revealed that the city does not regulate the number of animals that can be kept in a household, City Clerk Judy Stephens said.

The proposed change would allow up to three animals per household. If approved, the change would be consistent with a September 2005 move by the Fayette County government.

The council will also hear a request from builder Jeff Betsill to amend the Summit Point subdivision development agreement to add vinyl siding as one of the building materials allowed. Betsill said at an earlier meeting that substituting vinyl siding would allow for some reduction in the price of homes, making them more affordable to first-time and other buyers.
