Subscribers to Comcast Cable may have stumbled across a new program recently on Channel 24. The show is called “Success Class” and it is very different from what is offered on other channels. “Success Class” features reporters from local middle schools reporting on the good news in the community, something many people don’t think there is enough of a focus on in local television. The first episode aired on Mondays in November and the second episode debuted this past Monday and will be shown every Monday at 6 p.m. for the rest of the month. The crew has completed six of a scheduled 13 episodes thus far and will begin filming another episode later this month. New episodes debut on the first Monday of every month. “Success Class” is hosted by Peachtree City resident and author Margaret Ross. Ross penned the book, “Casey and the Amazing, Giant, Green Shirt,” which was used in numerous local schools in an effort to stop name calling and bullying. Ross also serves as a producer on the program, setting the order, writing the scripts and helping the children file their reports. The show is produced by Comcast and thus far has featured stories on Dr. John DeCotis, the Superintendent of Fayette County Schools, and the Fayette County Sheriff Departmen’s K-9 Unit. "We focus on the facts, the how to steps, and the real life stories of amazing teams of people who are increasing quality teaching time, making businesses, schools and buses safer, happier and more productive places," said Ross, adding that the program, which serves a local news magazine with kids, is a terrific form of edutainment, which teaches the viewer while keeping them entertained. Members of the news team include Dilligent Dailey (Nathan Pearson), Brave Pearson (Tommy Duda) and Berri Kind (McKenna Ceci). The news team is expected to grow over the course of the season. The program runs 28 minutes and an episode can be downloaded on www.kamaron.org. There viewers can also nominate students who show good character or nominate a kid or an adult hero. The show is also scheduled to be available On Demand this month. There is good news out there in the community and the news team at “Success Class” wants to show it to you. login to post comments |
