Advent is a season of anticipation and preparation, and has been observed by Christians through the centuries. The four Sundays prior to Christmas make up the annual period called Advent, but many churches add midweek services too.

At Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City, two short services will take place each Wednesday — Dec. 6, 13, and 20 — at 12:15 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The theme this year is “O Come” and focuses on names given to Jesus: Lord of Israel, the Key of David, and the King of all Nations.

Each service will include participation of the church’s youth group in the evening.
