Fund established to benefit couple’s daughter

April Ulrich, accused of shooting her ex-husband Eric Ulrich Oct. 26 outside the NCR offices in Peachtree City, had her case bound over to Superior Court after a preliminary hearing in Magistrate Court earlier this week.

Meanwhile, several of April Ulrich’s family members including her son, a cousin and one of her ex-husbands have posted online about how they never saw such a violent situation coming. Several of the posts indicated that April Ulrich had a number of personal issues possibly involving mental instability.

Police have said the dispute between the former couple may have been over matters involving their young daughter, Nici, who was living with Eric Ulrich in Peachtree City at the time of the shooting.

April Ulrich came to the NCR plant Oct. 26 and asked Eric Ulrich to meet her in the parking lot, police said. When he did, she used a .38-cal. handgun concealed in a bag to shoot him, police said. Soon after, Eric Ulrich was pronounced dead at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

A poster going by the online handle of bradtyn claimed that he was one of April Ulrich’s ex-husbands whom she divorced before marrying Eric Ulrich.

“Much effort was spent trying to convince April to get help, mental help ... alcohol abuse help ... anything,” Bradtyn wrote. “The poor, twisted soul was unable to see her own weaknesses, and unless the person can take that first step and at least admit a problem exists, little can be done.”

Bradtyn said he adopted April Ulrich’s other children and raised them as his own.

“I don’t think any of us saw this coming, and it was truly the most harmful, damaging thing she could possibly have done to her family ... all of us,” Bradtyn said.

Poster Jarvis6 said he was April’s son, and he felt she committed a “heinous crime” and will suffer the consequences. Although he expressed his love for April Ulrich, Jarvis6 also noted that she had driven others away from her with her choices.

“April, Mom, I love you too. You have done many things I’ll never comprehend, and this I don’t know if I could ever forgive,” he wrote. “Your path is the darkest of all, but it’s a path you chose. Your choices in life have driven me away from you, and many others who were once close to you.”

Jarvis6 also said he worries about who will raise his sister, Nici, who is the young daughter of April and Eric Ulrich. He added that he had a lot of respect for Eric Ulrich.

The Citizen learned from several sources that minutes before the shooting, April Ulrich visited her daughter at school and left two wedding rings with her.

A benefit account has been established at the Bank of Georgia for Nici Ulrich. Checks may be sent to the Bank of Georgia made out to the Nici Ulrich Benefit Account at 100 Westpark Drive, Peachtree City, Ga. 30269.
