Law enforcement agencies in Coweta and Fulton counties are seeking three men in connection with the Nov. 16 burglaries of two convenience stores in Newnan and Fairburn.

Two of the burglars are described as black males 5’10”-6’1” in height. One of the men was wearing a green jacket with a gray or white hood, black boots and dark jeans, according to Fairburn Det. Ben Pace. The second man was wearing a dark blue jacket with light blue stripes 4”-6” wide, black cargo pants and a black toboggan.

Referred to as the Rubbermaid Bandits by Fairburn Police, the men initially burglarized the Citgo convenience store at Milam Road and Ga. Highway 74. at approximately 4 a.m. Two of the men entered the store after smashing through the front windows to gain entry, said Pace. A third man stayed outside in a Hunter green Honda Passport.

Pace said the men were caught on video camera carrying two 35-gallon storage containers. They were apparently looking for cartons of cigarettes, Pace said. The men left empty handed at the Fairburn location since the owner had removed the cartons to an undisclosed location after past experiences this type of theft, Pace said.

Less than an hour later the Shell convenience store on Ga. Highway 34 and Sullivan Road in Newnan was burglarized. Approximately $5,000 in carton cigarettes was stolen.

Anyone with information relating to these burglaries is asked to contact Coweta County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit at (770) 253-1502.
