Brooks Christian plans 18th Century Christmas theme

Brooks Christian Church will celebrate a Colonial Christmas this year complete with decorations, costumes, 18th century Christmas music and hot wassail.

The church building and mini-concerts will be one stop on the Dec. 3 Brooks Tour of Homes scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m., but the general public is invited on that day to enjoy the decorated building, Christmas music, and a cup of hot wassail apart from the tour.

Twenty-minute concerts will be held on the half hour at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.

Celebration, a women’s sextet, will sing at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Christa Carrier, flutist, will play at 3:30 and three members of Brooks Christian Church will sing at 4:30.

On Sunday, Dec. 24, the 11 a.m. morning worship service will be in the colonial mode also, with costumes and and music from the period.

At 6 p.m. that day, Christmas Eve, the church will hold a 45-minute Colonial Christmas Candlelight Communion Service with scripture reading, carol singing and special music.

Brooks Christian Church is on the Ga. Hwy. 85 connector in Brooks.
