Last Monday, the Our Lady of Mercy high school wrestling team traveled to Banneker High School for a quad-dual meet. It was certainly a Bobcat night as OLM defeated three schools beginning with St. Francis (Class A ) by a score 42-24.
This was followed by the closest match of the quad against Banneker (Class AAAA). With the score tied going into the last match, senior Nick Ndetti was able to pin his opponent in the second period, securing the Mercy win over BHS 36-30.

“As a senior and one of our team leaders, Nick knew what he had to do and dug down deep for that super win.” said Mercy’s head wrestling coach Francis Giknis.

Next, the Bobcats kept the winning streak going by defeating Creekside High School with a lopsided score of 48-6. The Bobcats relied heavily on getting big team points off pins, of which they had 14 that night, in order to secure these team wins.

Pinning for the Bobcats were junior Will Simmons (189) and sophomore Clint Ford (112) with three pins each, getting two pins were senior Nick Ndetti (160), junior Thomas Raville (130) and sophomore Tim Kennedy (125).

Also scoring a pin were sophomore Tommy Kearns (275) and freshman Alex Denny (215).

“It is always good to beat another Class A school but when you knock off big Class AAAA schools that makes these wins even more special,” said Coach Giknis. Next up for the 3-0 Bobcats is another quad-dual team meet at Creekview High School on Wednesday, Nov. 29.
