The trial for accused murderer Richard Nelson Brown is set to begin Nov. 27 in Coweta Superior Court. Brown faces multiple counts in the Sept. 30, 2005 murder of Senoia business owner Ken Crook.

The 50 year-old Spalding County resident was indicted earlier this year on charges that included malice murder, aggravated assault, two counts of burglary, possession of a gun/knife during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The burglary charges are a result of Brown’s intent to commit burglary at Crook’s home and at Crook’s Tire Center, according to Assistant District Attorney Pat Dutcher.

Brown was a former employee at Crook’s Tire Center. Brown had owned a van that was identified by witnesses near the crime scene. He was arrested March 30 in Spalding County after the van was located in Gwinnett County and the ownership at the time of the slaying was traced back to Brown.

Crook was found in his home on Sept. 30, 2005, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound.

Assistant District Attorney Ray Meyer will argue the case for the county. Public Defender Shauna Hill will represent Brown.
