William Steve "Bill" Durkit, 76, Fairburn, died Nov. 14, 2006. He was born April 18, 1930 in West Virginia. He was the oldest of 10 brothers and sisters. He was a member of First Baptist Church o Fairburn, and had worked for Alan Vigil Ford since 1981. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dr. Steve Batts officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include his wife, Frances Durkit, Fairburn; a son, Robert William and Kaye Durkit, McDonough; a daughter, Elaine and Emory Geiger, Snellville; stepchildren, Rick McCord, Tim McCord, and Rhonda Spann; grandchildren, Leslie Diller, Ashley, Wiley, Wesley Durkit, Aaron Durkit, and Nicole Wells; and five great-grandchildren. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
