The East Coweta Indians had their first swim meet of the season on Friday, Nov. 17 at The Creekside Invitational. It was a huge success. The Indians took first place against Creekside, Sandy Creek, Our Lady of Mercy and Jonesboro High Schools with a score of 171 points.

The Boys 200 Medley relay team of Jake O’Brien, Jamie Wright, Jason Weeks and Robert Angsten won first place. While the Girls 200 Medley relay team of Krystal Hynson, Alex Kralman, Sarah Ferguson and Kayla Allen won their heat.

There were exceptional performances by Alex Kralman in the 100 Fly and 200 Free and coaches stated that all the swimmers swam well and it was an excellent way to kick off the season.
On Saturday, Nov. 18, the Indians swam at The 7th Annual Blue Devil Invitational in Columbus. They competed against 11 area high school swim teams. The boys won second place in the meet with a score of 99 points.

This was a vast improvement over last year’s seventh place finish and 20 points.
Due to injuries and sickness, only three East Coweta girls competed in this meet. Krystal Hynson received a top ten performance in the 200 Free.

One highlight of the meet was when the Boys 4x100 Free relay team of Angsten, O’Brien, Weeks and Wright made the state cut requirement with a time of 3:45.58.

The boys had outstanding individual swims by Wright who scored second place in the 100 and 200 Free and Andrew Pepper with a third place in the 50 Free.

There were also outstanding performances from Angsten, Weeks, Weston Dean, O’Brien and Connor Ford.

According to coaches, every Indian swimmer swam like a champion.
