McIntosh students place in foreign language comp.

Students representing McIntosh High School competed successfully in the 34th annual Declamation Contest at Clemson University on Oct. 28.

The competition is open to students enrolled in secondary school language courses from beginning through advanced and native speaker levels. Each participant is required to recite from memory two selected works of poetry in the target language. Judges evaluate the performance for accuracy of pronunciation and interpretation of the literary text as well as poise in oral presentation.

McIntosh winners were: Victoria Moreira and Taylor Womack, Second Place in French II; Andrea Motta, Third Place in French IV; Litia Frisby, Second Place in French IV; Thomas Cook, First Place in Latin IV; Hannah Calamoneri, Lauren Cash, W. Dugan Everage, and Shenaz Lilywala, Third Place in Spanish III; Alex Hunt, Third Place in Spanish IV; Rebecca Andrews and Taylor Power, Second Place in Spanish IV; Rachel O’Hara, First Place in Spanish IV; and Litia Frisby, First Place in Italian, Native Speaker.

McIntosh High School Foreign Language teachers who sponsored student winners in the event include Department Chair Kathleen Porto, Kelli Barber, Susan Boutier, Connie Bryant, Shannon Knight and Lector Zamore.
