Colorful Arts Society hosts seventh annual gala

The Colorful Arts Society’s annual fundraiser gala was held on Sunday, Oct.15, at the Atlanta City Hall Atrium. The event featured jazz trumpeter, Gregorie “Milkshake” Mayfield and The Milkshake Quintet.

The annual arts scholarships were awarded to dancer Trent Williams of Morehouse College and emerging opera singers Chevon Daley and Christopher Joyner of Clark Atlanta University, who showcased their extraordinary talents.

Members of the Atlanta Opera Company, Dr. J. Robert Adams and Jennie Guy, performed a moving selection from “Porgy and Bess.” Jovita Moore of WBS-TV and Terrance McKnight of Georgia Public Broadcasting, served as the Mistress and Master of Ceremonies. Dr. Mona MacDonald was recognized for her dedication and leadership as president since the organization’s inception. In addition, Audrey Toney received the first CAS Service Award for her outstanding contribution to the arts.

The gala also included a silent auction as part of the reception. Members, friends, and patrons of the arts celebrated another successful year.
