Mary Elsie Woodruff Purcell, Woodbridge, Va., died Nov. 13, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Purcell Jr., her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Woodruff Sr., and brothers, Wesley N. Woodruff and John R. Woodruff. She was retired from Portsmouth City Public School system as a library clerk. Services were at the Echols Funeral Home chapel with interment at Greensville Memorial Cemetery, Emporia. Survivors include a son, Harry M. and Jan L. Purcell, Fayetteville; a daughter, Cynthia P. and Kenneth R. Taylor, Manassas, Va.; a granddaughter, Ashley P. and Keith Brownlee, Senoia; and great-grandson, Chase M. Brownlee. Echols Funeral Home, Emporia, Va., was in charge.
