• Army Pvt. Brittany M. Welch has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. She is the daughter of Karen Oot of Peachtree City, Ga. and a 2005 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School, Fayetteville, Ga.

• Army Spec. Regis J. Carr has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. He is the son of Regis and Lana Carr of Peachtree City, Ga. Carr graduated in the year 2000 from Starr’s Mill High School, Fayetteville, Ga., and received a bachelor's degree in 2004 from Mercer University, Macon, Ga.

• Peachtree City resident Private Zachary Hildebrand recently graduated from the United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S. C. Hildebrand is a 2006 graduate of McIntosh High School enlisting in the Marine Corps’ Delayed Entry Program. He endured the most intensive physical, mental and moral training, becoming one of the select few to be called a United States Marine. Hildebrand joins an elite group of young men and women who choose to put others before themselves, filled with a sense of duty to their country, choosing to follow in the footsteps of those few who came before them to defend our nation.
