Basketball season underway

The Fayette County and Starr’s Mill varsity boys and girls basketball teams kicked off the new season on Saturday night and the Tigers and Lady Tigers picked up the wins. The boys defeated Starr’s Mill 94-43 with Noel Johnson scoring 23 points, pulling in four rebounds, getting four assists and recording six steals. David Millaud contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers won their game 63-53 with Tessah Holt scoring 22 points, Jasmine Facey adding 12 and Kristene Walker scoring 10. The girls took on Lovejoy on Monday and won 71-65 in overtime. Holt scored 36 points and and Walker added 12.

The Lady Panthers fell to Landmark Christian on Monday 52-29. The Lady War Ealges were led by 18 ppoints from Christian Hunnicutt. The Starr’s Mill boys took on Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy and lost 54-45.

Sandy Creek’s boys opened their season with a 68-67 loss to W.D. Mohammed.

The big game when school starts up next week is Fayette County at McIntosh. The girls will play at 6 p.m. and the boys will play at 7:30 p.m. Starr’s Mill will play at Whitewater next Friday at 7 and 8:30 p.m.
