Newnan Theatre Company show continues this weekend

Folktales for Fun

Pulling from timeless stories of many continents, “Folktales for Fun” by Carlos Perez is a multicultural play for young people. The Popcorn Theatre Series production, staged at Newnan Theatre Company, opened last weekend and will continue its run through Nov. 19.

“Folktales for Fun” is directed by Bert Lyons and is presented in the Black Box Theater.

“Tales from Germany, Egypt, Turkey, Liberia and other countries are included-some new and some very familiar,” said Lyons. “Through ‘Folktales for Fun,’ you really learn how much we have in common with people from other cultures.”
Cast members include Katie Ashley, Micheal Dean, Armando Connerty, Sean Flannigan, Jordon Lunstead, Sarah Mason, Erin Owens, Samantha Sovik, Allison Sullivan and Lydia Williams.

The play, rated G for all ages, will be presented Friday-Sunday, Nov. 17-19. The Friday evening show starts at 8 p.m., Saturday shows are at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinee begin at 2:30 p.m.

Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, 55 and over, and children, 12 and under. Visa and MasterCard payments may be made by phone or at the box office. Discounted rates are available for groups of 10 or more; the theatre is handicapped accessible.

Newnan Theatre Company’s final show in 2006 will be their Main Stage show “A Christmas Carol,” adapted from Charles Dickens, Dec. 1-3, 8-10 and 15-17.
