Stars on the Southern Crescent coffee house returns with its fifth annual Celtic Christmas event on Nov. 17 and 18, with a dream line-up of exquisite performers, including Three Quarter Ale.

Slated to appear on Saturday, Nov. 18, Three Quarter Ale is also celebrating their fifth anniversary this year. The toast of the Georgia Renaissance Festival, the group specializes in exquisite three-part harmony with unique instrumentation, and their performances offer a warmth and humor that has captured the hearts of audiences all over the Southeastern US. Though their sound can best be generalized as "Celtic folk rock," Three Quarter Ale's music has clearly been influenced by such diverse genres as bluegrass, opera, Broadway/show tunes, and jazz.

The rest of the line-up for the occasion is no less impressive. On Friday, Nov. 17, the entertainment include the antics of the perennially popular Lost Boys, the humorous harmony of the Brogues, the enthusiastic moves of youngsters from the Ryan Academy of Irish Dancing, and folk music from David Leinweber, a veteran performer who is new to the coffee house. In addition to Three Quarter Ale, the Saturday line-up features the poignant music of Susan Hickey, and the foot -stomping liveliness of the Jolly Beggars, making their first appearance at Stars on the Southern Crescent.

Produced by Offshoot Productions, the coffee house has moved to Tyrone’s Roger Spencer Community Center, 145 Commerce Drive. Doors open at 7:45 p.m., and the entertainment begins at 8:15. Patrons who bring their own mugs from home get discounts on hot drinks and are eligible for the “most unusual mug” award. Mouth-watering desserts and hot and cold beverages will be available.

Each evening there will be a silent auction for beautifully detailed hand-crafted dulcimers. The auction will help raise money for Offshoot’s educational and outreach programs.

Tickets, $10, each, are on sale at the Peachtree City Library, 201 Willowbend Road  Road, 770-631-2520, and the Roger Spencer Community Center, 770-487-4694. Online purchases are available at www.offshoot.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
