Event raises funds for the new Senior Services Wellness Center

For more than 20 years, the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce has implemented a forward-thinking approach to the development of business and community leaders through the sponsorship of Leadership Fayette classes. The program runs from late fall through early spring, and provides participants with a broad awareness of the Fayette County community, businesses, and governmental entities. Each year teams are established and required to complete service projects in the community.

This year, Leadership Fayette participants will continue their efforts to ensure that everyone has a delightful holiday season, through what is fast becoming a county-wide holiday tradition, The Festival of Lights. This lighting extravaganza is a self-driving tour around Fayette County that affords residents an opportunity to view and vote for their favorite participating residential and business holiday displays. The driving tour begins on Dec. 10 and extends through Dec. 26. Winners will be announced on Dec. 28.

Through contest registration fees, corporate sponsorship and direct donor contributions, Festival of Lights will raise funds for the new Fayette Senior Services Wellness Center. Fayette Senior Services is a non-profit organization that provides a broad scope of life-enhancing services to Fayette County residents, age 50 and above.

Community residents and businesses are asked to support this initiative by becoming a part of the driving tour for a nominal tax deductible registration donation of only $25. To obtain a copy of the entry form, visit www.fayettefestivaloflights.org. All entry forms and registration fees must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2006. Winners will be announced on Dec. 28.

Visit www.fayettefestivaloflights.org to register to participate in this awesome lighting extravaganza and for sponsorship information.
