Recently the Newnan Kiwanis got a welcome lesson on the proposed Fair Tax system and what it’s going to take to get it implemented. Angela Bean of the Americans for Fair Taxation was welcomed by newly installed Newnan Kiwanis president George Alexander.

Bean’s presentation covered the basic points of the Fair Tax plan. The plan calls for the elimination of personal income tax, estate/gift tax, capital gains tax and self-employment tax and replacing those taxes with a national sales tax of 23% on new items only. The many confusing methods of taxation could be eliminated as well as tax costs currently hidden in American made products and services. “This will allow American businesses to be competitive in the world market and bring jobs back to the U.S.” Bean explained.
