State football playoffs start tonight

Class AAAAA

East Coweta Indians (6-4) @ Tift County Blue Devils (9-1)
Coaches: Danny Cronic (EC), Jay Wallks (TC)
Points for/against: 310/200 (EC); 207/124 (TC)
Last week: East Coweta - 14 Newnan-17; Tift Co.-38 Colquitt Co.-35 (3OT)
Players to watch: (EC) - Tim McGill, Nico Fowler, Michael Mcrae; (TC) - Sean Baxley, Israel Troupe, Kaream Hess.
Notes: The Indians fell to Newnan last week 17-14. McGill rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns. The Blue Devils have won four games in a row. They captured their first region title in 23 years with their win over Colquitt County. The game went to three overtimes.

Class AAAA

Whitewater Wildcats (7-3) vs. Brunswick Pirates (7-3)
Coaches: Amos McCreary (WH), Maurice Freeman (B)
Points for/against: 234/149 (WH); 297/151
Last week: Whitewater 41 Northgate - 27; Brunswick - 9 Effingham Co. -7
Players to watch: (WH) - Tavoris Dixon, Jay Bright, Cody Haralson, Jonah Jaurigue, Colin Wooddy; (B) - Darius Slay, Wesley Smith, Andre Washington.
Notes: Dixon rushed for over 200 yards last week in the Wildcats win over Northgate. The defense has allowed over 14 points in a game three times this season and two of those came in losses. Brunswick started the season 0-2 and then won six games in a row.
Starr’s Mill Panthers (7-3) @ Ware County Gators (8-2)

Notes: Starr’s Mill has won three games in a row by a combined score of 118-28. They have only allowed more than 14 points in a game three times this season and they lost all three of those games. Ware County has won seven games in a row by a combined score of 235-27.

Sandy Creek Patriots (7-3) @ Flowery Branch Falcons (9-1)

Last week: Sandy Creek-41 Cedartown-13, Flowery Branch-34 West Hall-20.
Points for/against: 234/126 (SC), 374/112(FB)
Players to watch: Brad Bush, Jake Turing, Braxton Lane, Robert Jaracz (SC); Jaybo Shaw, Devon Reed, Christian Earls, Zach Veatch (FB).
Notes: Sandy Creek has won three in a row and has outscored their opponents 112-33. Their three losses are to region opponents that have all made the state playoffs as well. Flowery Branch is riding a four game winning streak into this game. Their loss came to the region champion North Hall team on Oct. 6. They have given up seven points or less in six games.

Class A
Landmark Christian War Eagles (8-2) vs. Social Circle Redskins (6-4)

Players to watch: Matt Moody, Jimmy Eden, Brian Lee, Trey Strickland (LCS); Marquis Williams, Tyler Jones, Jonathan Vines.
Notes: Landmark won their fifth straight region title this season. Social Circle won their region (8-A) last year. The War Eagles have won six games in a row. They went 4-0 against common opponents this season while Social Circle went 3-1. The Redskins lost to Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy. Social Circle has lost three of their last four games.
