Fayetteville City Council Nov. 16 will hear a zoning request from a local business and consider a revision to the city’s stormwater illicit discharge ordinance.

The council will hear a rezoning request from Dr. Sidney Waters to rezone 0.71 acres located at 230 W. Lanier Ave. from RMF-15 Residential Multi-Family to C-1 Downtown Commercial. The property is the current site of Waters’ dental practice.

In business in the same location since the 1970s, Waters always believed the property was zoned commercial, said Planning and Zoning Director Eldridge Gunn. Waters is requesting rezoning that is most compatible with the city’s future land use map, Gunn said. The map designates the area as Downtown Mixed Use.

Gunn said no changes are planned at this time.

Also at the meeting, the council will hear the second reading of the revised stormwater ordinance. The only revision would remove the city’s ability to grant a hardship variance. The city was advised by Georgia Environmental Protection Division that variances were not acceptable, said City Engineer Don Easterbrook.
