Girl Scouts of Pine Valley Council, Service Unit 619 of Fayetteville hosted their first annual Project Linus blanket making event on Saturday, Oct. 14. Over thirty girls of all age levels worked together to complete at least 15 blankets that were donated to the organization. The younger girls fringed the fleece blankets while the older girls used sewing machines to sew blankets together. There were representatives from the Griffin chapter of Project Linus on hand to talk to the girls about the history and significance of the organization. Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization that collects handmade blankets and distributes them to children who are seriously ill or traumatized in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies or anywhere that a child might be in need of comfort.
