Members of the area's three veteran's organizations will memorialize the contributions of all U.S. military veterans during the second annual Veterans Day Remembrance on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in Peachtree City.

The Memorial is located at the flagpoles in the City Hall Plaza at 151 Willow Bend Road in Peachtree City.

The featured speaker will be Army National Guard Captain John Alderman, commander of Troop E, 108th Cavalry based in Griffin, Ga. Alderman and his soldiers were in combat operations in and around the Iraqi city of Mahmudiyah located southwest of Baghdad in the "Triangle of Death" from May 2005 to May 2006. The captain will talk on the theme, "Why We Serve."

"It's a real honor to be asked to speak," the captain said. "There's nothing more I'd rather be doing on that special day than share the time with other veterans."

The event will also include honors to the flag, military music and ceremony and a memorial wreath presented by Fayette County VFW and American Legion posts. Military equipment and uniforms will also be on display thanks to the Commemorative Air Force.

Light refreshments will be available. Spectators are asked to either bring lawn chairs or blankets. Call 770-631-2542 for more information.
