County Commissioner Robert Horgan is inviting Fayette County’s citizens to meet him for coffee November 18, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Fire Station No.1, located on Ga. Highway 279 in north Fayette County. He would like constituents to drop by so he can talk with them about their views on the county and to answer questions about current issues and problems.

“Hopefully, this will be the first of many opportunities to hear from the public in a similar format. I believe commissioners can learn a lot about our communities and our citizens by being available in an informal setting. Sometimes, the formality of visiting our offices or appearing before the Board at a meeting is a little intimidating and often inconvenient. I want to offer an alternative”, Horgan said.

Staff from several county departments will be available to answer questions and to distribute information about how county government functions and why some processes are often cumbersome. Though no formal presentations are planned, citizens will be able stop in to view some of the county’s long range plans and to comment on them. “While I may not be able to answer every citizen’s questions right then and there, I will certainly make sure they get an answer as soon as possible, even if the answer is not the one they may be hoping for,” Horgan stated.

Robert Horgan was elected earlier this year to fill the unexpired term of A.G. VanLandingham. Though elected at-large, he is the District 1 Commissioner. District 1 encompasses an area that includes most of the city of Fayetteville, south to McBride Road, east to the county line, west to Sandy Creek Road and a portion of the north Fayette area to the county line.
