Line Creek Civitan Club’s annual tasty fund raiser The always anticipated Line Creek Civitan Club’s 2006 Great Chili Challenge will be held tomorrow, November 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Shakerag Knoll, adjacent to the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater, in Peachtree City. Admission for the general public is $2 per person or $5 for a family of up to five immediate family members. The ticket price includes a ballot to vote for your favorite chili and a chance to win one of many door prizes. If there are more than five family members in attendance, additional door prize tickets may be purchased. Attendees will have over 30 chili entries to taste this year, including entrants from both professional and novice community businesses, civic organizations and clubs, restaurants and various other groups as well as individuals. The competition will feature awards in various categories including Judge’s Choice, Best Decorated Booth, Best Professional Category, Most Original, Best Vegetarian, Muy Caliente and, of course, the coveted People’s Choice for the Best Chili in Fayette County. Astro Events will be bringing out their obstacle course for the kids along with their hoola hoop game. The event will also feature face painting and live music with entertainers like The Stampede, Ryan’s Academy of Irish Dance and The Misery River Band. This year's fund raising raffle will feature two exciting prizes. The first drawing will award one lucky raffle ticket holder two round trip tickets to any Air Tran destination while the second drawing will present the winner with a reconditioned, late model E-Z-GO golf cart. Contest winners will be announced at the close of the event at 3 p.m. All proceeds from this event are used to support local community charities and Civitan projects that work to improve the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Some of the programs and organizations supported by Civitans in Peachtree City and the surrounding communities include the YMCA program for individuals with developmental disabilities, the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life," Special Olympics, Special People of Fayette County, DART (Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation for Teens), Southwest Christian Hospice and the Civitan International Research Center, a facility which conducts research into the causes of developmental disabilities and provides clinical services/programs for those affected by developmental disabilities.
