Suspect previously convicted of false imprisonment, assault on officer

Police are still searching for a man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint from her Fayetteville home Monday morning.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Mac Arthur Prayor Jr., 36, charging him with kidnapping, aggravated assault, theft by taking and armed robbery, police said. The victim was able to escape physically unharmed, police said.

Prayor has served jail time for false imprisonment, aggravated assault on a police officer and various other charges stemming from incidents in Fayetteville and Spalding counties on October 9, 1998. In the Fayetteville incident, police reported that Prayor got into his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle at the Fayette Pavilion and ordered her to drive away or he would kill her.

It is not clear if the woman in the 1998 incident is the same woman from Monday’s incident.

Prayor is described as a black male with short hair and mustache. Anyone familiar with his location is asked to call Fayetteville police at 770-461-4441.

Police said Prayor pushed his way into the victim’s Meadowbrook Court home around 1:15 a.m. Monday, demanding money, police said. Although the victim initially declined, she changed her mind after he held a knife to her, police said.

Prayor then allegedly tied a piece of cloth around the victim’s mouth and forced her into the car which he drive to a residence in the county to purchase crack cocaine, police said.

The victim escaped when Prayor drove the car into a church parking lot, police said. A bystander gave the victim a ride back to Fayetteville, police said.
